Feed the Seeds for Change

Once again, Haiti has been hit by a natural disaster. Matthew, a Category 4 hurricane has completely ravaged the southern peninsula, one of the most beautiful parts of the island, the region the original indigenous Taino people considered their paradise. The storm’s aftermath has left traumatized and homeless populations, often with no access to potable water or food, without jobs, and with up to 90% of their crops and forests devastated.

& Caribbean Democracy Network

Fondation Espoir’s Jeune Ayiti Network connects over 125 youth associations across the country. Along with the Champions Training Program, Jeune Ayiti’s achievements are: leadership retreats for young women, gender equality/ awareness seminars, national workshops on sustainable development, the training and coaching of political candidates, i.e. mayors, house representatives and other prominent political figures, two Leadership Training BootCamps, the organization of two Youth Congresses and the production of two short movies addressing the themes of national identity and protection of the environment.

In 2005, after many years working primarily in education, health and democracy building, Foundation Espoir and 125 youth associations co-created the Jeune Ayiti Network, and later developed the Champions Program, a leadership and social entrepreneurship program which has trained more than 1000 young leaders around the country and in the diaspora.

Foundation Espoir maintains a network of regional coordinators in all the departments of the country. Among Jeune Ayiti’s achievements are: several leadership retreats for young women, gender equality/ awareness seminars, several national workshops on sustainable development, the training and coaching of political candidates, among them several Mayors, House Representatives and other prominent political figures, two Leadership Training Bootcamps, the organization of two Youth Congresses and the production of two short movies addressing the themes of national identity Acceptons notre Haïtianité" and protection of the environment Fyèv rouj.
